How long does it take to heat up the thermal store?

Have you ever wondered how long it takes to heat up the heat storage tank?

This depends primarily on the solar radiation, but also on the heat that is extracted from the storage tank during the heating process by the withdrawal of hot water or by the heating system.

Nevertheless, a theoretical consideration can be made assuming constant conditions. In order to heat 1 liter of water by 1 degree, an amount of energy equal to 1.16 Wh is required. For example, a storage tank with 300 liters heated from 10 °C to 60 °C would be able to store 17.4 kWh of energy. To accommodate this energy in the storage tank with a constant heating power of 2 kW would take 8.5 hours.

For a more practical, year-round consideration of the system, a check with the my-PV Power-Coach is recommended.
